Welcome to Sail Newport's Youth Program

SCHEDULE

Sail Newport's 2012 Recreational Youth Program schedule is below.  Our youth dinghy program (ages 7-17) runs in four consecutive two-week blocks. One-week youth keelboat (ages 12-17) sessions overlap select dinghy sessions.

The Little Guppies (ages 5 -7) program runs for one week separate from the Youth Dinghy Sessions. If you have any questions regarding the Youth Program, please don't hesitate to contact us by e-mail or call (401) 846-1983 and ask for Vinnie Pattavina.

Dinghy Session 1: June 18 - 29

Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Classes offered. 

  • Mon-Fri, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Dinghy Session 2: July 2 - 13

NO CLASS WEDNESDAY JULY 4, ALL CLASS DAYS EXTENDED TO 3:30

Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Classes offered. 

  • Mon-Fri, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Dinghy Session 3: July 16 - 27

Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Classes offered.

  • Mon-Fri, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Dinghy Session 4: July 30 - August 10

Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Classes offered. 

  • Mon-Fri, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Green Fleet Opti and C420 Racing Program

Beginner racing and Green-fleet style racing program for students wanting to continue the path toward competitive sailing.

  • Optis: June 18 -July 13 and/or July 16- August 10. Coaching during local NBYA Events, USODA Opti New Englands and the 2012 NBYA Junior Race Week
  • 420's: (currently 4 weeks only) July 16 - August 10. Coaching during local NBYA Events, and 2012 NBYA Junior Race Week

Keelboat Session 1: June 18 - 22 

  • Mon-Fri, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Keelboat Session 2: June 25 - 29

  • Mon-Fri, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Keelboat Session 3: August 6 - 10

  • Mon-Fri, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Keelboat Session 4: August  13 - 17

  • Mon-Fri, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Keelboat Session 5: August  20 - 24

  • Mon-Fri, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Little Guppies: August 13 - 17

Introductory and Experiential Class. There are three sessions (morning, afternoon and late afternoon) offered during the week, each meets for 2 1/2 hrs.

  • Morning, 9-11:30 a.m.
  • Mid-Day, 12-2:30 p.m.
  • Afternoon, 3-5:30 p.m.

Classes offered in each session are subject to change depending upon demand.

RATES


Confidential Financial Aid is available by application.  The application is available through links sent to students placed in a youth program session.  Any questions or concerns regarding financial aid can be directed to Brad Read or Vinnie Pattavina

Dinghy Sessions:

  • $460 per session/$415 for each additional sibling

Youth Keelboat Sessions:

  • $355 per session/$310 for each additional sibling

Two-Week Dinghy Session cancellation charge policy:

  1. Prior to June 1, $20 administrative fee, with the balance refunded.
  2. After June 1, $40 admin. fee, with the balance refunded if the spot is filled. If the spot is not filled, the entire session fee is not refundable.

OPTIMIST and C420 Green Fleet Program:

  • $875 per 4-week session including coaching during local events and NBYA Junior Olympic Race Week.
  • $1125 per 8-week session including coaching during local events and NBYA Junior Olympic Race Week. 

Little Guppies:

  • $105 per student per session.
