Annual WINTERFEST REGATTA February 21, 1200 Start Sail Newport Sailing Center, Newport, Rhode Island Sail Newport invites you to
join us for one-design racing in Newport Harbor during the city’s Winter
Festival celebration. You’ll stay warm
with multiple short-course races (as many as possible.) Relax after racing on Saturday at the awards
social with cold beer and hot chowder at Newprot Yacht Club. 1)ELIGIBILITY: The race is open to yachts of the following
classes: Laser, Hobie 14, Yngling,
N-10, Nomad 2)RULES: Racing will be conducted in accordance with
the following: (a) The 2001-2004 Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS)
including the prescriptions of US SAILING
; (b)
Frostbite Rules for the Lasers, Hobie Cats and Yngling classes; (c) The
Match Racing Rules (d) This Notice of
Race; (e) The Sailing Instructions and any
amendments thereto. 3)
REGISTRATION: Submit the
Entry Form or register online with the
appropriate entry fee of $15 to Sail Newport,
60 Fort Adams Dr., Newport, RI
02840. A Waiver of Liability,
signed by all participants, must be submitted to Sail Newport by 1100, Saturday, February 21, 2004. 4)
LOCATION: Sail Newport
Sailing Center (SNSC), Fort Adams State Park.
Boats may arrive after 12 noon on Friday, February 20 and must depart on
Monday, February 23. All classes will drysail. 5)

1200—1530 Racing(*No race will be started after
1500)

Immediately after
Racing-Awards social at Newport Yacht

SCORING: Low Point
Scoring as described in RRS Appendix A 2.2.
There will be one throw-out race, provided five or more races are
completed. 7)
ALTERNATIVE
PENALTIES: 360° turns as described in RRS 44.2, amended to require a
yacht which has accepted an
Alternative Penalty and done her turns to so advise the race committee after
finishing. Match Racing Rule Apply to Nomads. 8)
PRIZES: Will be
awarded for the first three places in each class. If less than ten in a class, first and second place only will be
awarded. The 2004 Sail
Newport/Newport Yacht Club Winterfest Cup will be awarded to the winner in
each class. 9)
