NOTICE OF REGATTA

MONDAY NIGHT MADNESS !!
A Youth Racing Night Sponsored by The Boat Locker and Sail Newport
Monday Evenings starting June 30th and ending August 11th. First Signal Opti, Laser Radials, 420s at 5:15pm, and Adult Lasers and V15's at 5:45pm.

Sail Newport invites you to join us for one-design racing between Rose and Goat Islands on Monday Evenings. Monday Night Madness will have starts for:
YOUTH: Club 420s, Opti Blue, White and Red (one start) and Laser Radials and Full Rigs.
ADULT: Full Rig Lasers and Vanguard 15s.

1. ELIGIBILITY: YOUTH: All youth students of Sail Newport, Ida Lewis Yacht Club, Newport Yacht Club and Conanicut Yacht Club are invited. All competitors must be approved by respective sailing program head instructors and have waivers signed by a parent or legal guardian.
ADULT: All Full Rig LASERs and Vanguard 15's are invited.

2. RULES: Racing will be conducted in accordance with 2001-2004 Racing Rules of Sailing.

3. REGISTRATION:
YOUTH: Submit the Entry Form, signed waiver and payment either to your head instructor, or to Sail Newport: 60 Fort Adams Dr. Newport, RI 02840. Head instructors must then FAX or send in the forms to Sail Newport, Inc., 846-7245. 60 Fort Adams Dr., Newport, RI 02840. A Waiver of Liability, signed by all participants, must be submitted to Sail Newport by 4:00 PM on the day that the child is to sail for the first time.
ADULT: Submit the Entry Form, entry fee, and signed waiver to Sail Newport, 60 Fort Adams Dr. Newport, RI 02840 or FAX to 846-7245.

4. LOCATION: Starting Area will be just outside the harbor entrance between Rose and Goat Island.

5. SCHEDULE OF RACES:
4:30 Harbor start to get to the racing area (Instructors listen to channel 79)
5:15 First signal for first class.
5:45 Earliest first signal for Adult Laser
7:30 No Youth Class will start after 7:30.

6. SCORING: Low Point Scoring as described in RRS Appendix A 2.2. (1 for first 2 for second 3 for third etc. etc) The score is based on the helmsperson. The score for each helmsperson is the best 60% of all of the races throughout the summer, providing that 60% of the total races were sailed. If the helmsperson did not compete in 60% of the races in the series, DNS’s will then be added to the total score of each helmsperson to get to 60% of the total # of races in the season.

7. ALTERNATIVE PENALTIES: 720* turns as described in RRS 44.2, amended to require a yacht which has done a 720 degree turn to advise the race committee after finishing.

8. PRIZES: Will be awarded for the first three places in each class. The Boat Locker Monday Night Madness perpetual trophy will be awarded to the top skippers and crews in each class.
