Sail Newport hosted the Opti and Laser 4.7 Challenge June 9 – 10. Day one of racing was abandoned due to thunderstorms, however beautiful blue skies arrived on Sunday with a 10 – 15 knot northeasterly.
PRO Ron Hopkins and his race committee team managed 5 competitive races for the 90 boat Opti fleet and 15 boat Laser 4.7 fleet. The spectacular turnout makes this year’s event the largest Opti and Laser 4.7 Challenge that Sail Newport has hosted.

A Vanguard van will be onsite before racing on Saturday and Sunday to supply Opti and Laser 4.7 parts
