Low Point Scoring System as described in RRS Appendix A with ¾ of a point awarded for first place. 2. Boats not registered will not be scored. 3. NREG = number of boats registered. NSTART = number of boats started in a race as determined by the Race Committee. 4. A boat starting incorrectly (over early) and not restarting (see sailing instruction # 11) is scored OCS for that race. 5. A boat disqualified for reasons other than OCS is scored DSQ for that race. 6. A boat finishing and thereafter retiring is scored RET for that race. 7. The score for OCS = DSQ = RET= NSTART +1. 8. A boat starting but not finishing is scored DNF for that race and is awarded points equal to the number of finishers +1. 9. A boat not starting in a race is scored DNS for that race. DNS = NREG. 10. A boat registering after the series has begun is scored DNS for all earlier races using the DNS value for the first date that it was registered. 11. A boat which has elected to take an Alternative Penalty for a rule infraction (see SI #15 12. A boat which has elected to take an Alternative Penalty for a rule after being protested but did not either fly a yellow flag or report it to the RC after the race will be scored points equal to its finish plus 40% of NSTART, but no less than 6 points more than its finish. Maximum points may not exceed NSTART + 1. Scores of other boats are not affected. 13. Spring & Summer Series Scoring: A boat’s score for the series is the average place of all the races it sailed, after permitted throwouts. All registered boats qualify for the series, but a minimum of 66% of the races run must be counted towards a boat’s score, even if the boat participates in fewer races. If a boat sails in at least 66% of the races PLUS 1 race, then they receive 1 throw-out for the series. If a boat sails in at least 80% of the races PLUS 2 races, then they receive 2 throw outs for the series. 14. Overall Season Series: A boat’s score for the series is the average place of all the races it sailed, after permitted throwouts. All registered boats qualify for the series, but a minimum of 66% of the races run must be counted towards a boat’s score, even if the boat participates in fewer races. If a boat sails in at least 66% of the races PLUS 2 races, then they receive 2 throw outs for the series. If a boat sails in at least 80% of the races PLUS 4 races, then they receive 4 throw outs for the series. 15. Ties not resolved by RRS Appendix A2.3 will be broken by the relative finish position of the boats in the last race which both started. |
