Happy New Year Opti Racers!

 

2012 is here and with it a new round of exciting opportunities for getting back on the water, whether it is in preparation for the April USODA Team Trials, or simply sailing, having fun, getting better and getting ready for the upcoming summer!

 

Spring Weekends:

  • Saturday & Sunday Practices 11 am – 4 pm for Team Trials qualified sailors begin on Saturday, February 11th and running through Sunday, March 25th.  Sailing if the weather permits, physical training and classroom chalk talks.
  • Beginning Saturday, March 31st through May 20th, practices will be open to any White, Blue or Red Fleet experienced sailor, or sailor who participated in the Fall BCRP Opti program. 

 

Rates:

  • $100 Saturday & Sunday with a min. four weekend committment
  • $60 either Saturday or Sunday for the Feb – Mar or Apr – May series with a min. four weekend commitment (per series)
  • $80/day, pay as you go 

 

New for Spring 2012!

 

            Based on the tremendous success of the annual Brooke Gonzalez Advanced Racing Clinic (aka the”BEG”), Sail Newport will be hosting an April Break Opti Racing Clinic Sunday, April 15 – Tuesday, April 17, 9 am – 5 pm each day.

            The clinic is open to any Opti racer with regatta experience in White Fleet or above, but will be capped at 40 sailors.  Preference will be given to BCRP/SN Fall Opti Program Participants, but we need to hear that you want to participate by January 20th.  After the 20th, clinic registration will be opened to the general Opti racing public on a first come, first in basis and we will not be able to guarantee a spot for you.

            Emphasis of the clinic will be on boat speed and boat handling, strategy and tactics and regatta preparation.  There will be a special guest speaker one evening of the clinic which will conclude with a clinic regatta Tuesday afternoon for which there will be prizes..

            The 3 day clinic fee is $215 which includes all coaching fees, clinic handouts, t-shirt and refreshments at the end of practice each day.
